Founded as a Blacksmith shop, H.A. DeHart & Son, Inc. expanded over the years to include all types of transportation equipment. A natural progression along the way included buses. First known for transporting West Deptford students to Paulsboro High School in the 1940’s on nothing more than a handshake and a promise, H.A. DeHart Transportation Co., Inc. has grown from those original 5 buses to more than 80 buses. The school bus company was originally operated by Charles DeHart who doubled as a bus driver, along with 1 woman and 3 men, one of whom also doubled as a mechanic. With the opening of the newly built West Deptford High School in the early 1960’s, H.A. DeHart & Son added 8 buses to their fleet and became the primary bus company for all West Deptford children; a priviledge which continues still. Incorporated in 1973, H.A. DeHart Transportation, Co., currently buses students from 10 Public School districts along with 5 Parochial Schools on a daily basis and sports teams from 4 Districts. H.A. DeHart Transportation Co., Inc provides busing for field trips for Public and Parochial schools, church groups, stringbands, dance schools, labor unions, colleges, summer camps and daycare centers and have run shuttle services for hospitals and refineries. With a highly qualified staff of 100 drivers and aides, the Transportation Company is capable of handling all your transportation needs. The Transportation division also currently employs 4 full-time trained mechanics, who not only maintain our own fleet of buses, but also maintain all New Jersey registered buses for the Knowledge Learning Corporation, as well as several other small school districts’ buses.
